Tangerino was set up by Lil and Kitty Rice early last year. They wanted to find a way of mixing a love of music, art, theatre and Circus and so in June 2013 put on our their first show.
The two previous shows were based on Hans Christian Anderson’s story of The Ugly Duckling. The first performance took place in a Victorian furniture warehouse in Brixton and the second under a railway arch in Loughborough junction.
Kitty is a student at London College of Communications studying Illustration and Lil is a student at The National Centre for Circus Arts. All the artists in their previous shows have been undergraduates or recent graduates in the arts with a sprinkling of very talented musicians thrown in for good measure.
Kitty and Lil work closely with the artists to create several short ‘acts’. A circus artist or dancer works with a band or musician writing original songs or learning covers to form a show.
The Show of The Red Shoes is inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's tale, addressing the themes of the story as opposed to the narrative. There will be five circus acts accompanied by five different instruments. Expect elements of promenade theatre, original music and incredible acrobatics.
