featuring
THE WOOKIES & MEXICAN DUBWISER
TUESDAY 1 JULY
TICKETS FROM £6
We couldn't keep this incredible line-up a secret any longer. We are quivering with excitement. On July 1st, The Vaults welcome musical geniuses, THE WOOKIES and MEXICAN DUBWISER to London. Fresh from Glastonbury, they are coming to shake up our World Cup Carnival. This will be a night full of cumbia rhythms and disco power direct from Mexico City and L.A. And there will also be football.
MEXICAN DUBWISER (MX - US)
Known as Mexican Dubwiser, Marcelo Tijerina hails from Monterrey, Mexico. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Marcelo has risen up the ranks to become one of the most promising (and busiest) DJs, producers and performers, fusing Cumbia with rock, reggae, funk and dub music. His debut album Revolution Radio, produced by himself and Ulises Lozano from KINKY, will introduce his post futuristic sounds to audiences of all kinds.
Mexican Dubwiser’s new album, “ELECTRIC CITY”, was released last March between Kool Arrow Records and Kin Kon Records (KINKY’s Record Label), in the USA & Canada, and soon after in Mexico and the United Kingdom.
His enthusiasm for music has worn off on members of Cafe Tacvba, Celso Piña, Rocky Dawuni, Pato Machete, Billy Gould, Myron Glasper, Gran Silencio, Serko Fuentes and many more. If you don’t recognize any of these names, look them up…it’s worth it. They’ve created an album that couldn’t be more appropriate for interpretation of culture through his modern lens.
Mexican Dubwiser has toured and shared stages with the likes of Grammy award winners Grupo Fantasma, Natalia LaFourcade, Aterciopelados, Julieta Venegas, Molotov, Ximena Sariñana and big bands such as KINKY, Bajofondo, Manu Chao, DJ Krush, DJ Vadim, Mexican Institute of Sound and Nortec Collective: Bostich + Fussible.
Following Glastonbury, Mexican Dubwiser accompanied by his drummer, accordionist, vocalist and trumpeters will join The Wookies at this very exclusive gig in London at The Vaults.
THE WOOKIES (MX)
The Wookies are a Mexican band with disco, techno tags created by dj-artists Hugo Diaz Barreiro (founder of SICARIO) and Andre VII, better known as “Calacas” (founder of the Electric Music label).
The original project has shared the stage with The Chemical Brothers, Die Antwoord, Dj Mehdí, Kavinsky, Steve Aoki, Azari & III, Miike Snow, Naive New Beaters, Friendly Fires, Underworld, Guns N Bombs, Benjamín Diamond and DatA to name a few. They have wowed audiences across the world, including those in Japan, USA, Spain, France, Canada and Puerto Rico, Costa Rica. Next stop, the United Kingdom.
This summer, The Wookies will smash their “Discotecno” album at the Glastonbury Festival (29th of June at The Common). This new show was premiered last March at the Festival Cumbre Tajin (Veracruz) and Vive Latino 2014, Mexico City.
They will perform for the very first time in London on the 1st of July at The Vaults before flying to Paris and Rome. So start working on your Wookie costume and venture into the underground world of Waterloo station for a night full of high-energy techno power direct from Mexico City!
